Happy Thanksgiving

Well, I took our turkey out of the freezer yesterday and put it in the fridge to thaw. This means that it’s coming fast! Soon it will be turkey day! I know you’re supposed to splurge on Thanksgiving, but this year I’m going to cut out a lot of grease by pouring out the drippings, and making gravy from the envelope.

Did you hear about the shopper in North Carolina that hit a carjacker with a frozen turkey? Isn’t that an interesting Thanksgiving holiday report! Had to share this one with you!

Now wouldn’t it have been a lot easier to spray him in the face with pepper spray had they had it on them? Not to mention, it would definitely had stopped him! This had to be one of the funniest stories I’ve read in a while.

After that one, I read a not so funny story. It was about a shooting near a college campus. As if it’s not scary enough having your kids be away at college, but to hear of these things makes it worse. When you think of all the shootings and crimes that happen in schools nowadays, it sure is a good idea to make sure your kids have protection.

According to a Reader’s Digest special report, 6,000 colleges and universities report some 40,000 burglaries, 3,700 forcible sex offenses, 7,000 aggravated assaults and 48 murders a year. This is an unfortunate reality.

We have devised some college safety kits.

One that is customized as a female college safety kit and the other as a male college safety kit.

Be sure to check them out. They also make great holiday gifts. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Church Shootings, What Next?

This weekend, my husband and I went to a club that we hadn’t been to in a while. We used to go there faithfully every single weekend for about two years straight, so it was one of those places where you know everyone there, and they start to be close like family. We just got burned out after a while, and started to move around to different clubs to change things up a bit.

We had a nice time catching up with old friends. One of them works at a local hospital. She knows about the life saving products we provide, and told me that she really noticed an increase in the amount of people that came in hurt from being mugged and battered.

There was just a shooting at a church in New Jersey. Of all the places you would never think that you would need to carry some sort of protection on you!

The shooter had a mission to kill his ex-wife, and he shot two others as well. Innocent bystanders! Talk about being at the wrong place at the wrong time…yet it was such a good place to be. A church seems like it would be a safe haven of all places. You would think God would protect you in his house on earth. This is an eye opening reality that this world is not a safe place no matter where you are. Like the old saying goes, it only takes one bad apple in a bunch!

TASER® C2Whether you are at church or a busy shopping center this upcoming holiday season I implore you to have some sort of protection on you. In a situation like the above, a TASER C2 is the top choice.

Wolves In Sheep’s Clothing

Brrrrrr it’s cold out! Woke up to a chilly 51 degrees this morning. It is a nice change to feel the brisk cool air. I must admit, I’m very spoiled living in Florida. I grew up in Missouri and remember the freezing cold days and nights. I especially don’t miss driving on ice and snow. My brother, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents lived in Indiana, and we used to take 7 hour road trips to visit them.

Many will be traveling soon to visit family for the holidays. Sometimes it can be easy to get lost in bad areas or God forbid break down. Not everyone keeps a gun under their front seat for protection. Many people don’t like to have guns around especially those with children. The reality is that it’s not a safe world. You have to think of these things before they happen. There are many young adults that will be traveling home to be with family as well.

There were two young women just leaving work that were kidnapped at gun point. Who ever expects that to happen to them! Here they were happy to get off a long hard day’s work, thinking they were going to have a nice evening at home, and instead, they were driven around the city and raped continuously by two 20 year olds, and a 13 year old.

I myself was never in that type of situation, but I was however molested by a catholic priest the evening of my first holy communion. My mom always had a priest over for dinner on Sundays. This particular one, Father Varedea, wanted to have us over to his house instead this time for a barbecue to celebrate my first holy communion. There was something in his house that my father was going to fix for him, so we were going to head down to a local store (which was about a 15 minute drive) to pick it up. My mother and father went in their car, and I was going to ride with him and my brother (who was in the back seat). There were two ways to get to the store. The interstate, or route 66.

I saw my parents take the interstate, and we were going off onto route 66. I thought that was rather odd. Then he suddenly put his hand down my shirt and tried to squeeze my chest! I squirmed away in horror and told him to stop. He hesitated a bit, then did it a few more times. My brother was in the back seat telling him to leave me alone. He then put his hand on my knee, rubbed it and moved his way up my skirt! I was screaming at this point, and so was my brother, so he told me that when we got to the store I could pick out anything I wanted, and he would buy it for me. The only thing was that I had to never speak of what happened in the car.

When I got home that night, I told my parents that the reason why Father Varedea bought me the pink poochie dog I wanted was because something happened. I wasn’t supposed to tell them, but I did. My parents about had heart attacks and immediately called the head priest on the base. Yes, it was a military priest!Pepper Mace Baton Key Chain

Now if that doesn’t show you that you cannot trust anyone, I don’t know what will! A Pepper Mace Baton is a great tool to have attached to your key chain, it serves a double purpose.

Please be sure to protect yourself and your loved ones this holiday season. What better gift to give than a life saving one!

Pick Your Poison

Friday is finally here! What makes you look forward to Fridays? Is it the last day of work for you? Pay day perhaps? Is it the beginning of your weekend after a long day’s work? What do you like to do to unwind? Go out and socialize with friends? Kick back in your favorite chair and watch TV? I tell you, when I watch TV, I forget about the whole world around me. I really get into whatever it is I’m watching, and it is a type of therapy for me! I like to watch movies, and the occasional TV show. Thursday nights Survivor, and Saturday nights, America’s Most Wanted.

I checked out the America’s Most Wanted website today, and noticed a generous offer. Someone anonymously donated pepper spray to Arkansas television news personalities to help protect them from falling victim as their co-worker Anne Pressly did.

Anne was a beautiful news anchor in Little Rock, Arkansas. Anne’s mother was visiting her from South Carolina. She had always called Anne in the morning, and was worried when she didn’t answer several of her phone calls. When she had gone to Anne’s house to check on her, she was horrified to find Anne bleeding in bed. Police say Anne was beaten in the head and chest, and died after she was admitted to the hospital.

This is a very unfortunate and tragic story. There are many females that are afraid of guns, and would never carry one. Therefore, they go about their every day life without a thought of self protection. Had Anne had some form of protection on her, whether it be pepper spray, a stun gun, or a TASER, this story would have a better ending.

I have also found, speaking with other females, that they are even afraid to carry a stun gun thinking that they are going to be stunned themselves, or have it used against them. First off, I always tell them that you have to ask yourself this. What is going to be more detrimental to you and your loved ones? You being attacked, possibly raped and killed? Or you accidentally stunning yourself? Which would you rather have happen to you? Pick your poison.

Stun Master Cell Phone Stun GunA stun gun has an on/off safety switch that sits where your thumb should be when holding it that you quickly slide to activate the stun gun. If you are worried about an attacker using it on you, there are models that will deactivate the stun gun if they are pulled away from you so that the attacker cannot use it on you. In fact, my favorite one is the Stun Master™ Cell Phone Stun Gun because it also emits an enormously loud 100 decibel high pitched siren, and looks just like if it were a cell phone (it can also be used as a bright flashlight). Even if you think someone is getting near you, you can pull the pin and let the siren draw attention before they get even closer to you.

There is also another one with a disable pin without a siren, the 775,000 Volt Stun Master™ Stun Gun.

I’m telling you, this is perhaps the best Christmas present you can give a loved one. It’s something most never think about. The person who donated the pepper sprays is an angel in disguise. These are unique gifts that can help them live to see another holiday.

Rope and Handgun Found in Stalker’s Truck

Wow, Thanksgiving is 2 weeks away. Time sure has been flying by! I picked up most of the dry goods today. I always like to be prepared a bit ahead of time. As I’m doing so, I’m remembering the Thanksgivings of the past that will always be a fond memory.

I looked up the definition of Thanksgiving on Wikipedia’s website. It is a holiday that is to express thanks for one’s material and spiritual possessions. The first recorded Thanksgiving ceremony took place on September 8, 1565 when 600 Spanish settlers, under the leadership of Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, landed at what is now St. Augustine, Florida, and immediately held a Mass of Thanksgiving for their safe delivery to the New World; there followed a feast and celebration. That’s not too far from where I live! It’s a small world, I tell ya! Naturally, there are also many other recordings of “Thanksgiving”.

Well, you know how it is when you’re in front of a computer…one thing leads to another, and after investigating the history of Thanksgiving, I stumbled across a news article about a woman who some days jogged and some days rode her bike at a local park.

A strange man approached her and asked her for directions. The second time she saw him, he told her that he loved her and asked her to perform sex acts with him. He also told her that he had been at the park every day that week looking for her. He then touched and grabbed her as she was trying to get into her vehicle. He asked her to meet him there again and she agreed.

Fight To Win Self Defense VideoHe was taken into custody after approaching the victim at a prearranged meeting place. Detectives say the man was carrying 10 inches of rope in his hands, and a search of his truck revealed a large amount of rope and a .22-caliber handgun. This woman was one of the extremely lucky ones! This just goes to show you that you never know who may be watching your every move. You would never think this could happen to you, but these things do happen to people!

Don’t let yourself fall victim. We have many affordable life saving tools. If she was disarmed, she may have at least been able to protect herself had anything happened using self defense techniques. “Fight To Win” is a great self defense training video for yourself or will be a great life saving gift for a loved one.

Please Remember Our Nation’s Veterans

BodySecurity.comI took a look at the calendar this morning and saw that November 10th is Veteran’s Day. I grew up an Army brat. My father met my mother in Berlin, Germany. She hardly spoke much English when he met her. I was born in the Rheinland Pfalz area, Kaiserslautern, Germany known to the Americans as “K Town” in Landstuhl Army Hospital. Since my father was sent away so much, German was my first language! I recall having a tutor sitting next to me until 3rd grade helping me with my English.

Having been stationed in Germany, I was one of the lucky ones to have been able to travel around Europe with my family. We used to take the double decker bus tours. We visited Italy, Austria, Switzerland and France. On these tours I recall stopping by the USO agencies. We were also stationed in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. When my father got out of the service, this is where he wanted to live. He liked being out in the country, so we lived in a house on an acre of land.

He had served in the Vietnam war, and was one of the first troops there to have agent orange get on him. He passed away in 1997 after a long, agonizing bout of agent orange related prostate cancer in the home I grew up in in Missouri. I lost my father at the age of 22. He was the nicest man that had given many the shirt off his back. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss and think of him. It perpetually saddens me that I was not ever able to welcome him into my house, and have him over for dinner as he passed away the day we made closing on our home. My husband was also in the service, and was just getting out shortly before it all happened.

I wanted to commemorate all of our nation’s veterans this veteran’s day and extend a most grateful “thank you” for putting yourself out there for all of us. Those of you that are not veterans, be sure to remember those around you who are, and those that lost their lives for us, and remind them that they are much appreciated.

A Life Saving Story

775,000 Volt Stun GunI received an email yesterday from a woman who was ever so grateful. She said that she likes to shop at a certain mall where she doesn’t feel comfortable going to her car at night. Therefore she had purchased a  775,000 volt stun gun from us about 6 months ago.

It has a disable pin on the wrist strap so that if the stun gun is taken away from you the disable pin will pull out, preventing the stun gun from working. She had always kept it in her hand going from the mall to her car in the huge parking lot.

She got into her car, then as she was about to back out, she noticed a man had just taped a flyer to her back windshield. She kept the stun gun in her hand and got out to remove it as it was obstructing her view. As she did so, she heard a man come up from behind her and saw him with her peripherals. Immediately, she swung her arm around behind her and incapacitated him with the 775,000 volts. Someone heard her scream, and mall security quickly came to her aid. They caught him and the other man who was putting the flyers on the cars. Their intent was to assault her and steal her car (which also had her purse and credit cards in it).

Soon, there will be sons and daughters coming home for Thanksgiving, possibly traveling in their cars. Please be sure they have some type of protection with them at all times. A life is worth more than a few dollars! Check out the many affordable life saving stun guns and pepper sprays.

Who Are Your True Friends?

My husband and I don’t drink, but we do like to go out on the weekends and spend time with our friends who do. Sometimes we feel like outcasts because we don’t! It’s just our personal preference. Neither of us likes to feel vulnerable or not in control of ourselves. We don’t feel we have to do that to unwind, just getting out does that for us.

We enjoyed attending the Halloween parties, and heard the web of woven drama around us. We live in a very critical society. There will always be someone who is jealous of you for whatever reason, and always going to be people talking bad about you who are sweet as pie to your face. I have learned early on in my life that even people who you think are your friends, unfortunately many times truly aren’t.

I have always been partial to pets over humans when it comes to friendship. I have been burned so many times after being the kindest, most caring person I could be, that I find serenity in my relationships with them! The possiblity of them turning on you is much lower than that of a human, and they never judge.

My husband always says that when they pass on, it’s going to be so painful that he doesn’t want any more to have to go through with it again. I on the other hand will appreciate the fact that they brought me so many smiles and so much happiness the past 10-20 years, and in return have comfort in knowing that I had given them the best life they could have possibly lived. If he were to die before me, I would probably be known as the cat lady!

Bear Spray Animal Repellant
It saddened me to read about the Chihuahua that was thrown and killed by a black bear right here in Florida! It’s not often that we hear of these things, but apparently they do happen. If you are walking in the woods with your pet, or if you are in an area where there are bears, always remember you can be on guard to protect yourself with bear spray.

Safety Light
Also pet blinkie safety lights are a good thing to have on your pet’s collar when out for a nice cool fall evening walk. It’s good for others to be able to see them, and if God forbid, they should get loose or away, you will have a much easier time finding them! I’ll never forget having to run after my black Labrador retriever in the dark! He was a very sneaky dog, and always found a way to get loose, out or away. If only I had one of these on him back in the day! It’s something you can just clip on them before letting them out at night.

It’s also good to have some sort of illumination on yourself such as an LED safety light. I couldn’t tell you how many pedestrians and bikers have been killed because they weren’t seen. I’m sure they never would have imagined it could happen to them, but it did. Bicycle safety lights and pet blinkies can also make great life saving stocking stuffers. Check them out today!

Sleep Eating Alert!

My family came over tonight to celebrate my birthday. My mom bought what was supposed to be a “rum” cake for my birthday cake. It was a really good cake, however if you want a really, really good rum cake, I have just the recipe that I’m sharing with you below! I’m convinced, nothing can beat it. It’s one of my favorites to make around the holidays.

Just as I am feeling guilty from eating it, I read about this sleeping disorder just like sleep walking, only it’s called sleep EATING! You got it, people walk to their kitchen and basically raid their refrigerators. Some even take things back to their beds with them…wow Now I’m not feeling so bad for myself, but for them.

I’m thinking they should have a Voice Alert System-6! This is an annunciator system featuring wireless PIR sensors transmitters and a remote receiver/speaker base unit. Users record their own alert messages and are then notified with their own voice message when activity in a monitored area is detected. It allows a maximum of six user recorded messages.

Now not only would it be good for the sleep eating disorder people, but in general, it has many benefits! It can let you know “Car coming up the driveway”, while zone two could be for a sensor monitoring the back yard- “Alert! Child by the pool!” Perhaps a third sensor guards a side entrance against intruders. However, when this PIR detects movement, the base unit plays “Intruder on patio” and triggers a floodlight using one of four relays included on the base unit. System-6 can monitor all three zones simultaneously and still have three additional zones available when needed.

Home Portable Wireless Alarm Security System

It’s always nice to know when someone’s coming up your driveway, knowing that your child is still safe, and knowing that noise in the garage isn’t an intruder. Last but not least, hopefully it will not have to let your significant other know you’re in the kitchen! Be informed and aware…stay safe!

Rum Cake

1 18 1/2 oz. pkg. yellow cake mix
1 3/4 oz. pkg instant vanilla pudding mix
1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
4 eggs
1/2 c. cold water
1/2 c. applesauce
1/2 c. rum

Preheat oven to 325. Grease & flour bunt pan. Sprinkle nuts on bottom of pan. Pour cake ingredients after mixing over the nuts. Bake 1 hour. When cooled, I prefer to sprinkle powdered sugar on top (put powdered sugar into a strainer to make it dusty).

Icing (optional)

1/4 c. water
1/4 lb. butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. rum

Melt butter in saucepan, stir in sugar and water, boil, 5 min. stirring constantly. Remove from heat, stir in the rum. Poke holes in the top of the cake and pour on top.

Men Are Hard To Shop For!

It was such a beautiful, crisp, windy and cool day for us here in Florida. A sunny 68 degrees this afternoon. I saw so many out and about walking and jogging along as I passed my local park. What better day to finally get out and do some necessary shopping. I caught myself looking at a singing Christmas tree. Goodness, it isn’t even Halloween or Thanksgiving yet, and it’s Christmas all around me!

People were all up and down the aisles looking at decorations, lights and gift sets. I suppose it is good to start early and beat the crowds when you think about it. My mother-in-law seems to have all her Christmas shopping done by Halloween! I’m one of those people that when I notice something that someone would like between August and December, I just pick things up here and there. It’s also less painful on the wallet than doing it all at once.

I do the majority of my shopping online. There’s nothing worse than standing in a long line and noticing that the cashier is not in any hurry to shorten it! I swear I am sooo spoiled! You can just add things to cart and check out whenever saving you time and gas. I think men have to be the hardest to shop for. It’s easier when you know they collect something. Many men like to collect knives. Even if they’re not knife collectors, when they receive one of these puppies as a gift, they’ll sure want to be.

The butterfly knife is a really unique knife. The 5BL, seen here:
Butterfly Knife
happens to be my favorite. The photo doesn’t even do it justice. This is a gorgeous knife. There are many other butterfly knives that fit the bill, though!

My father always had a pocket knife on him. I can’t tell you how many times that thing came in handy! Especially when we were on vacation or on a road trip. I used to always get my father a knife for Christmas. I think he got the biggest kick out of the pen knife.Pen Knives

This is a really unique knife. It looks just like a fancy pen that you can clip right onto your pocket, and if you are ever in a duress situation, it’s an inconspicuous self defense mechanism. Nobody would ever surmise it was a knife in disguise! Have to love these clever knives.
